Crimes Against Persons

Overview

The term “crimes against the person” refers to a broad array of criminal offenses which usually involve bodily harm or such threat, or other actions committed against the will of an individual, such as manslaughter, murder, infanticide, causing death by want of precaution or by carelessness, assault and kidnapping etc.. The Criminal Code, Cap. 154 includes all the main offenses and criminal responsibilities.

Our Experience

Our firm is heavily involved to crimes against persons and has significant experience of handling of such cases. For years we have been acted as defense lawyers on various cases of murders and manslaughters, deaths caused by want of precaution or by careless act, assaults that caused deaths. Additionally, in various cases we have been acted legal advisors of the victims.

Our founding partner participated in the independent inquest charged to look into potential liability of the state and its officials leading to the explosion at Evangelos Florakis Naval Base, which resulted to the killing 13 people, including the Commander of the Navy, the base commander, six firefighters and to the injury of another 62 people.

In recent years, Elias A. Stephanou had academic involvement to the criminal proceedings through his appointment as a visiting lecturer at various universities and academies such at the Law School of the University of Cyprus and the University of Nicosia, the Open University of Cyprus, as well as to the Cyprus Police Academy and Prison Officers Training Academy.
