Disciplinary Procedure

Overview

A disciplinary procedure is a process for dealing with perceived employee misconduct both at the public and private sector. Especially the public sector, such as the Police, the National Guard, the Medical or the Bar Association, is governed by rules of conduct and ethics of which may lead to a number of penalties, such as reprimand, disciplinary displacement, fine, downgrading of payment scale or position, forced retirement and dismissal. In relation to the proceedings of the disciplinary procedure, these are identical and follow to the same principles with the criminal proceedings and therefore the procedure may be characterised as quasi-criminal.
